LOS ANGELES, CA – In the heated atmosphere at Dodger Stadium on the night of July 23, Tyler Glasnow didn’t just pitch a game, he declared his sovereignty. In a performance that was synonymous with the postseason, Glasnow brought the Minnesota Twins to their knees after 7 innings of class: 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and especially 12 strikeouts that made the entire stadium of more than 50,000 people explode with excitement.

If there were doubts at the beginning of the season about whether Glasnow would be healthy and stable enough to be the center of the Dodgers’ rotation, now – all the question marks have been thrown straight to the ground with 99mph speed and curveballs that make batters shake their heads in despair.

“I owe the fans a performance like this,” – Glasnow said after the game, his voice still cold as ice, but his eyes burning with determination.

Tyler Glasnow introduced by Dodgers

Not only “carrying” the Dodgers with expertise, Glasnow is becoming a spiritual leader in the locker room – something that LA’s star-studded lineup has been craving since Kershaw’s long-term injury.

Coach Dave Roberts said it bluntly in a press conference:

“If you’re looking for someone for Game 1 of the postseason? Look no further. Tyler Glasnow is the No. 1 pick.”

With a tight schedule and a lot of pressure ahead, the Dodgers desperately needed a “gatekeeper” to keep the game and spirit going – and Glasnow did just that with a perfect game. Not only did he help the team maintain its lead in the NL West, he also pushed back concerns about rotation depth while Gonsolin and May were out.

A talent who was constantly injured in Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay, Glasnow is now a bona fide Cy Young candidate. And if October is where superheroes come in, the Dodgers now have their own “Thor” – with long hair, steely eyes and a thunderous pitch.

“There will come a time when every team will have to face Glasnow – and they won’t be happy,” an ESPN reporter commented after the game.

Dodger Stadium has seen plenty of great performances. But Tyler Glasnow didn’t just pitch today. He made his mark. And if the Dodgers are destined to win this year, July 23rd is where it begins.
