Rapper 50 Cent has openly criticized Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent apology video, which came in the wake of released footage showing Combs attacking his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016. The CCTV footage depicts Combs chasing Ventura down a hotel hallway, physically assaulting her, and attempting to drag her back down the corridor while only dressed in a towel and socks.
In response to Combs’ apology, where he labeled his behavior as “inexcusable” and expressed regret over the incident, 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) took to Instagram, questioning the effectiveness of Combs’ public relations strategy. He stated, “This is not going to work, who is advising him right now? SMH bad move.”
In his apology video, Combs described the incident as “one of the darkest times in his life,” admitting to being “f***ed up” and expressing that he was “disgusted” by his actions. He emphasized that he is not seeking forgiveness but has asked God for mercy and grace. Combs also mentioned seeking professional help and attending therapy and rehab after the incident.
Following the footage release, 50 Cent shared a post referencing an earlier statement from Combs denying various allegations, including trafficking, rape, and sexual abuse. 50 Cent quipped, “The lie detector test has determined this was a lie…”
Before the footage surfaced, Combs had consistently denied allegations that he subjected Cassie to a cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking throughout their relationship. The recent revelations have intensified the scrutiny on Combs, leading to widespread discussions about accountability and the treatment of women in the industry.
