Justin Theroux and Brenda Song to the rescue!
Kate Hudson experienced a wardrobe malfunction not once, but twice, during a Running Point screening event in New York City last month. Fortunately, her costars Justin Theroux, 53, and Brenda Song, 36, were quick to step in and assist.
The actress and singer, 45, attended the Feb. 26 event at N.Y.C.’s Paley Center for Media wearing a black gown with a plunging neckline and side cutouts. While answering a question about three minutes into the post-screening panel discussion, part of her dress unexpectedly shifted out of place.
Startled, Hudson grabbed the front panels of her gown as Theroux, sitting beside her, immediately sprang into action. Footage from the event shows him waving at the audience before leaning over to adjust the back of her dress. Meanwhile, Song also rushed to help, standing in front of them with her arms spread wide to block the view in case of further slippage.
As Song acted as a shield and Theroux made the necessary adjustments, Hudson lightheartedly joked with the audience, saying, “You didn’t expect this!” Her fellow panelists—Jay Ellis, Scott MacArthur, and Drew Tarver—couldn’t help but laugh at the moment. After a few more seconds of adjusting, Theroux successfully fixed the issue, earning cheers from the crowd before the discussion resumed.
However, about 35 minutes later, Hudson faced another wardrobe mishap. As she raised her hands to clap, her dress slipped again. This time, Theroux quickly stood up to assist, ensuring a faster fix. Song, initially unaware of the repeat incident, soon realized what had happened and reacted with surprise, motioning toward her own dress.
Inspired by Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, Running Point follows Isla Gordon (Hudson) as she unexpectedly takes over her family’s business, the fictional basketball franchise, the Los Angeles Waves. Song plays Ali Lee, Isla’s best friend and the team’s chief of staff, while Theroux portrays Isla’s older brother, Cameron “Cam” Gordon.
Season 1 of Running Point is available to stream on Netflix and has already been renewed for a second season.
