Josh Allen is standing by his original ring choice for Hailee Steinfeld, even after securing a historic $330 million contract extension that made him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.
The Buffalo Bills superstar, 28, spoke to reporters during a live interview with 7 News WKBW on March 12, shortly after the team announced his contract extension through 2030. Naturally, the conversation turned to his personal life—specifically, his upcoming wedding to Steinfeld.
Allen’s Playful Response to ‘Bigger Ring’ Question
During the interview, a reporter jokingly asked Allen if he had any of his newfound fortune “earmarked” for wedding expenses—including possibly an upgraded engagement ring for Steinfeld.
“Maybe a bigger ring with the wedding coming up?” the reporter quipped.
Allen chuckled at the suggestion before clarifying the question.
“A bigger ring, you said?” he asked with a smirk.
After a brief pause, he confidently replied: “Uh, nah, I think she likes the one she’s got.”
While Allen may have plenty of money to splurge on a larger diamond, it seems Steinfeld is more than happy with the original ring he chose for her.
A Romantic Proposal in Malibu
Allen and Steinfeld, both 28, first announced their engagement on November 29, 2024, sharing a joint Instagram post a week after Allen popped the question.
The couple posted a breathtaking photo from their engagement, which took place during a sunset proposal in Malibu. The moment was set against a stunning rose-covered arch surrounded by candles, creating a picture-perfect backdrop for the couple’s next chapter.

Steinfeld’s Reaction to Allen’s Thoughtful Proposal
While the Pitch Perfect actress was completely caught off guard, she later revealed that Allen gave her a little heads-up to ensure she felt her best for the moment.
In a February interview with Who What Wear, Steinfeld expressed her gratitude that Allen encouraged her to get glammed up for their special night.
“I’m so grateful that he did it the way he did so that I looked good, and we have these photos that we’ll have and cherish for the rest of our lives,” she shared.
Steinfeld, who has often referred to Malibu as her ‘happy place’, said the proposal felt nothing short of magical.
“That’s the word—it was magical.”

A Relationship That Went Public in 2024
Allen and Steinfeld were first romantically linked in May 2023, but they kept their relationship low-key for over a year. They didn’t officially confirm their romance until July 2024, when they made their relationship Instagram official.
Their red carpet debut came after their engagement announcement, when Steinfeld attended the NFL Honors ceremony on February 7, 2025, supporting Allen as he received his first MVP award.
After the event, Steinfeld proudly celebrated her fiancé on social media, posting a tribute that read:
“That’s MVP Josh Allen to you!”
Allen responded in the comments with a simple yet heartfelt reply:
“I love you ????.”
What’s Next for the Couple?
With Allen’s NFL future secured, the couple can now focus on planning their wedding—and based on Allen’s latest comments, it doesn’t look like Steinfeld will be getting a “bigger ring” anytime soon.
But if their engagement is any indication, their wedding will be nothing short of magical—just the way Steinfeld likes it.
