In the darkest days following the devastating Texas flash floods — where dozens of lives were lost and hundreds of families lost everything — an unexpected act from a young MLB star brought tears to the eyes of the baseball community.

Chicago Cubs rising star Pete Crow-Armstrong touched millions of fans by quietly covering the funeral expenses of families who lost loved ones and donating tens of thousands of dollars to help victims cope with the financial fallout from the disaster.

“I can’t play football knowing there are parents who can’t find their children,” Pete said in a rare emotional statement.

According to sources close to him, Pete Crow-Armstrong has not made any official announcements to the media. All the help has been done through an anonymous charity, which he is behind. He even sent handwritten letters to each family to share his loss, with the message: “You are not alone.”

Although only 22 years old and in his first full season in MLB, Pete Crow-Armstrong has shown his heart and responsibility beyond the field. The incident only became known to the public when a relative of the victim posted a handwritten thank you letter, causing the online community to be moved and shared at a dizzying pace.

Cubs fans left thousands of comments thanking Pete, calling him “a true hero of the season” and “the golden heart of Wrigley Field”.

After this touching act, the Cubs Foundation and many of Pete’s teammates started fundraising campaigns to support the people of Texas. A special game is scheduled to be held next month with the aim of donating all profits to the reconstruction work of the affected area.

“Some days you win, some days you lose. But today Pete reminded us that kindness is the greatest victory.” – An MLB commentator wrote.
