Aubrey O’Day, a former member of the girl group Danity Kane, has spoken out regarding Sean “Diddy” Combs’ decision to return publishing rights to artists on his Bad Boy Records label. Last year, Diddy announced that he would give back these rights as a seemingly benevolent move, but the situation has become more complicated following his subsequent arrest on charges including racketeering and sex trafficking, which he has denied.
In a recent TV documentary, *TMZ Presents: The Downfall of Diddy*, O’Day shared her experience with the contract she received from Diddy regarding her publishing rights. According to her, the deal only amounted to $300.30 and included a clause that would prevent her from ever speaking negatively about Diddy on any platform, be it social media, podcasts, or otherwise. O’Day explained that the contract even prohibited her from mentioning its existence in the future.
O’Day expressed that the restrictive nature of the contract made her believe Diddy was trying to silence his former artists, particularly in light of the serious accusations he now faces. She also said that she had long suspected Diddy of wrongdoing, noting, “I’ve known the whole time…a whole lot of people do.” O’Day warned others about the dangers of entering into either business or personal relationships with Diddy, calling him “not a safe human.”
This revelation adds a complex layer to Diddy’s gesture of returning publishing rights, suggesting that it may have been a way to quiet potential criticism, especially as legal issues loom over the music mogul. Diddy’s team has yet to respond to the specific details of the contract O’Day revealed.
