Stray cat rejects street life, unexpectedly finding warmth in a home.

Contemplating a life on the streets until the end of its days, this stray cat unexpectedly finds solace in the warmth and comfort of a loving home.

Big Bern was a street cat. Since he was very young, he wandered the streets of Brooklyn, which he knew like the back of his hand. By gradually building a relationship with a man touched by his personality, the feline was able to build a future out of danger, within a loving home.

Shelters are the first to know that cats who have lived on the streets for many years can have difficulty acclimatizing to a more “ordinary” life , alongside humans. Big Bern , left to his own devices for a long time, experienced this change of life. After a somewhat chaotic adaptation period, he managed to enjoy the good times allowed by living indoors. Her story was shared by Love Meow .

Ronnie and Big Bern: the construction of a human – feline relationship

It was Ronnie , a New Yorker living in Brooklyn who took the first step towards Big Bern . Accustomed to cats and keen to help the animals most in distress, he gradually approached the cat, then almost wild. Through many attempts, after a few weeks, he managed to get Big Bern to a home. The man was then convinced that a new life was necessary for this cat who had greatly lacked gentleness.

A life change more complicated than expected

While he was discovering indoor life, Big Bern was not very cooperative. Discovering an environment he did not know, he was rather aggressive and refused to be approached. Although confused, his host family had no intention of giving up. Patience paid off when one day the cat agreed to have its belly stroked. This decisive moment, symbolizing a change of state of mind, allowed the cat to be transferred to a home, Puppy Kitty NY City , for adoption.

“He deserves a home that will be patient with him”

When he arrived at the shelter, Big Bern caused a sensation among the volunteers. Meagan , in charge of the feline, confided: “He is super nice, but very shy at first” . As the days went by and he experimented with new activities, especially playing, Big Bern became a more fulfilled cat.

The joint efforts of the feline and the team of volunteers made it possible to trigger an adoption. A few months later, Big Bern enjoyed a lot of love and tenderness in the “best possible family” .
