BREAKING NEWS: Anthony Kim Steps Back from LIV Golf Amid Uncertainty About Future. .cau

November 19, 2024 by cau cau

Anthony Kim will venture out to the Asian Tours International Series later this month after the LIV Golf wildcard made the decision to commit to the circuits event in Qatar.

With LIV Golfs 2024 season coming to an end in September at the leagues Team Championship, those on the roster have a lengthy wait before they can return to action on the breakaway league. A five-month offseason will not see the league return until February for the beginning of their 2025 campaign.

In the meantime, a whole host of LIV members have opted to head to the leagues feeder tour, the International Series, for their next event at the Qatar capital at Doha Golf Club.

Of the 18, the likes of Patrick Reed, Louis Oosthuizen, and Charl Schwartzel are in the field, and they will be joined by one of the leagues 2024 wildcards, Kim. Californian native Kim became a shock signing by the Saudi-backed circuit earlier this year, having not played competitively in 12 years.

The former PGA Tour star was signed as one of the leagues wildcards alongside Hudson Swafford, however, he failed to make his mark, struggling to find the form that made him one of golfs rising stars at the beginning of his career. Rust on his game was to be expected after such a long time away.

And while the breakaway league offered Kim a route back into the game, it remains to be seen whether that spot will be there come 2025. Having been signed as a wildcard, it remains to be seen whether the same spot will be available, and if not, if one of LIVs 13 teams will bring him on board.

Kim himself appeared to set fairly low expectations upon his return, with the main drive behind his return seemingly to help support his family. Opening up on his decision to make the move earlier this year, Kim said: When Greg [Norman] and I spoke before I made the decision to come to LIV, he talked about how he wanted me to be around my family and to feel supported.

Not feel like Im an island and you walk by everybody and you to the extent say hello. Im not saying everyone on this tour is best friends, but theres definitely a lot of support out here. My family has been treated world-class by everyone, whether it be Jane and the media team, Greg, Jed, all those guys have been amazing.

Its easy to reach out to them and get support. I know that I have a lot of people coming into town this week, and Martin with travel has just made everything so easy. Kims trip to the Asian Tour later this month is not his first, having played in the International Series event in Macau in March.
