Despite being a longtime celebrity chef, Guy Fieri can still get schooled.
In a clip from the new season of Fieri’s Food Network series Tournament of Champions, shared exclusively with PEOPLE, one contestant uses a curveball ingredient to hit a home run.
In the clip, chef Fabio Viviani, a Top Chef alum and Italian restaurateur, was unimpressed by one of the challenge’s ingredients: okra.
“I [started] to cut it and my hands,” he began. “They [felt] like I just had an entire kindergarten snot in my hands. Who invented okra?”

The slimy vegetable was selected by the randomizer, a lottery-style machine used on TOC that determines the protein, produce, equipment, cooking style and time set for each cook-off.
Despite the sticky situation, Viviani made the best of the ingredient. He chopped the okra and blended it with hard-boiled eggs and oil to make an okra mayonnaise for his ceviche.
The mayo move left the host in awe.
“I’ve never seen anything like that,” Fieri exclaimed. “I’ve never seen that move in my life.”
Season 6 of the bracket-style competition, which premiered on Sunday, March 2, sees 32 chefs competing for the number one spot.
In addition to okra innovator Viviani, celebrity chefs Karen Akunowicz, Kaleena Bliss, Sara Bradley, Chris Cosentino, Rocco DiSpirito, Tobias Dorzon, Amanda Freitag, Stephanie Izard, Kevin Lee, Antonia Lofaso, Tim Love, Shota Nakajima, Nini Nguyen, Michael Reed, Britt Rescigno, Joe Sasto, Chris Scott, Adam Sobel, Dale Talde, Casey Thompson, Jet Tila, Fabio Viviani, Lee Anne Wong and Claudette Zepeda will go head-to-head. Whoever ends up on top earns a $150,000 cash prize and a TOC belt.
