TORONTO – While many people are still used to seeing Alejandro Kirk “cold on the field,” recently, he surprised the whole city with a meaningful action: investing $3.6 million to turn an abandoned house into a shelter and support for homeless youth.

The old house in downtown Toronto now has a new look: full of warm beds, classrooms, communal living spaces and enough space for dozens of young people to reintegrate into the community.
The support program goes beyond “temporary shelters”: Kirk also sponsors life skills classes, psychological counseling, and career guidance – to keep the kids from falling into a dead end.

“I started thinking: what can I do to make Toronto more livable?”
According to a source close to Kirk, he has been quietly following the homeless situation in Toronto since the beginning of the year. When he heard the stories of homeless orphans, he decided to take action.

“I’m not looking for attention. I just hope that a house, a meal, and the right advice can change a life,” Kirk shared via the Blue Jays’ official post.

Kirk has risen to become an MLB “unicorn” – a two-time All‑Star catcher, and a $58 million contract extension from the Blue Jays.

But what’s most admirable is that he doesn’t let fame overshadow his kind heart.
