The Boston Red Sox seek their first victory since calling up top prospect Roman Anthony as they face the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Fenway Park. The Rays won Monday’s series opener 10-8 in 11 innings.

Anthony, MLB.com’s No. 1 prospect, debuted Monday, going 0-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. At 21 years and 27 days, he’s Boston’s youngest call-up since Rafael Devers in 2017. “We’re excited. It’s a big day for the organization,” manager Alex Cora said. “He’s going to swing at strikes. That’s the key, right? That’s his mantra, and he’s going to continue to do that here.”

Anthony, batting fifth in right field, expressed confidence: “(The feeling) is just more excitement—it’s more knowing that you’re ready and just trusting in my ability to go out there and have fun and play with these guys and help the team.”

The Rays, now six games above .500, have won six of their last seven. Jake Mangum went 4-for-6 with a decisive 11th-inning RBI, but debutant Ian Seymour shone, pitching two hitless, scoreless extra innings to earn a historic win. “The pitchability stands out,” manager Kevin Cash said. Seymour reflected: “I don’t know if I could script it any better, truly. Pretty special moment that I certainly won’t ever forget.”

Boston’s Lucas Giolito (1-1, 6.42 ERA), winless since May 11, aims to rebound after allowing seven runs in 1 2/3 innings last week. He’s 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA against Tampa Bay. The Rays’ Ryan Pepiot (3-5, 3.20 ERA), with just two runs allowed in his last 12 2/3 innings, is 0-2 with a 4.95 ERA vs. Boston.
